چکیده

This study assessed selenium (Se)-enriched microalgae biomass produced in a pilot-scale raceway pond treating domestic wastewater and an extract thereof as biostimulant biofertilizer. After producing the Se-enriched wastewater, effect of on seed germination, growth, yield beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) was studied by conducting germination test foliar soil applications pot experiments. Furthermore, potential dry to elevate Se concentration beans, leading biofortified crop, also experiment. Presoaking seeds at low (1%) enhanced their measured significant increase seedling length vigor index. Application spray more effective stimulating growth increasing compared its application drench. Foliar resulted 3.5 times (at 1%) 1.8 increment 5%). Additionally, amendment with 5%) (3.2 for seeds) bean plants (1.8 seeds), simultaneously. These results indicate that cultivated Se-rich could be used microalgae-based biofertilizer or improve content higher market value. may offer environmental-friendly sustainable approach biofortify food crops Se-deficient regions.

In vitro digestion of selenium from selenium- enriched chicken*

Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element important for several biological functions, such as thyroid hormone metabolism, anti-aging, and antioxidant protection. Even though reports on Se species in different food products are increasing, the scientific knowledge on the bioaccessible amount of Se species from these products is not as well known. In this work, Se-enriched chicken meat was dige...

Selenium-Enriched B. longum Inhibits Tumor Growth in Mice

Bifidobacterium longum (B. longum) is a lactic acidproducing bacterium that grows naturally in the human gastrointestinal tract and defends the host against viral infection (Otles et al., 2003; Picard et al., 2005). As an anaerobe, B. longum can selectively germinate and proliferate in the hypoxic regions of solid tumors (Yazawa et al., 2000). Previous studies showed that B. longum had anticanc...

Study of Antioxidant Effects of Selenium-Enriched Saccharomyces Boulardii on Staphylococcus Aureus Infection

Background: The most important strategy of the immune system against pathogens is producing active oxygen intermediates with sidelong consequence of oxidative stress induction in body. Probiotics and selenium have recently been proven to be powerful antioxidants that help boost the immune system. Hence, the aim of this study was to investigate the antioxidant effects of Sac...

In vitro protection of human lymphocytes from toxic effects of chlorpyrifos by selenium-enriched medicines

Objective(s):  Chlorpyrifos (CP) is a broad-spectrum organophosphorus pesticide used extensively in agricultural and domestic pest control, accounting for 50% of the global insecticidal use. In the present study, protective effects of two selenium-enriched strong antioxidative medicines IMOD and Angipars were examined in human lymphocytes treated with CP in vitro. Materials and Methods: Isolate...
